Announcing the Hearth Science 2-year Clinical Autonomics Training Program
Last week we launched the inaugural cohort of a 2-year experiential training program in Clinical Autonomics. We have been building toward this moment for the past five years, but it has ripened slowly. We needed to first finalize the new foundation model and reduce it to practice (June 2024). We also needed a sufficient depth of faculty to support it, so that people learning the modality have a strong cohort of mentors to help guide them.
With the addition of Sue Bahnan MS MA to our core faculty, and Aubrey Wallace ND to our tracking faculty, as well as seven additional mentors from a variety of clinical and personal growth backgrounds in the pipeline we now have the people power to help guide students from a variety of backgrounds.
We also have an extremely robust ecology of asynchronous training resources, including seven books, six posters, our Autonomic Compass– the world’s first autonomically-centered diagnostics and intervention self-healing platform– and a Practitioner Training Subscription on our learning platform, that includes hundreds of teaching hours of instructional films with an incredibly wide array of mentors and advisors from 25 disciplines of healing in 24 cultures, and growing, including:

Deb Dana, LCSW, Founding Faculty of the Polyvagal Institute
Vincent Felitti, MD, Co-Principal Investigator of the Adverse Childhood Experiences Study

What we want to do with the clinical program, which is modeled on ancestral apprenticeship programs, is gradually and methodically introduce people to the worldview and practices of centering an autonomic lens in relating with self and others.
For this reason, we work with people in the context of a primary learning cohort, as well as individually in the context of their lives, their scope of practice, and their vision of how they want to apply the work.
The program is competency-based, not completion based, which means that there will be objective markers of competence required for advancement each semester. The program is collegial, warm, and informal– yet it is also RIGOROUS.
We will not hand things to you on a platter. You will have to demonstrate competence in the work. There are far too many practitioners in the world with framed diplomas on their office walls who cannot embody the relationality that they are teaching.
In order to help bring other people into safety and connection, you will need to get your own nervous system baselined here. So the program begins with this inner transformation for the practitioner, which is really something that has its own organic timeline.
There is a prerequisite to the clinical program in the form of our Foundation Model in Autonomics seminar, which will be offered next in Autumn 2025. The other recommendation is that you spend time with our core faculty face-to-face in our Interoceptive Tracking retreat, which will be offered October 15-19, 2025. The clinical portion of our next 2-year clinical autonomics cohort begins January 2026.
