Last week, in the midst of the Polyvagal controversy, the Director of the Polyvagal Institute asked me for advice. They are caring, well-meaning people, conscious of their responsibility. Yet what struck me most deeply, perhaps, in the interaction was my sense that they were fundamentally mis-reading what was happening to the theory in the world.
