We are taking several books out of production
Sorry/ Not Sorry - February 18, 2026
I am just back from six weeks of sabbatical, which is the first time in nearly eight years that I have had a substantive break from work. Thank goodness. I’m very grateful. It was necessary.
I spent two weeks sleeping all the time, two weeks playing tennis, and two weeks re-imagining our work (I’m simplifying, but you get the gist of it.)
We are on the threshold of making some changes to how we organize our work for different audiences (wellness professionals, coaching professionals, the general public). This is going to involve the launch of things that are new, and the revision of some things that are old.
We have also recently contracted with a German publisher so that we can sell books in the European Union without massive import duties. We are in the process of translating select works into Dutch, French, and Italian. If this proceeds smoothly we’ll start translating into other languages as well.
This is a somewhat long-winded way of explaining that we are going to be taking several books out of production because they no longer clearly fit into the product ecologies that we are developing, and/or the science in them no longer accords with what we believe is accurate, and I’m not sure how to update it without completely re-writing the books, which I do not want to do.
In some form these will likely be melted down, alchemized, and are likely to re-emerge in some new form at some point, but the days of their current incarnations are numbered.
So, first, we are taking Restorative Practices of Wellbeing out of production. I loved writing this book, which really launched the incarnation of work from 2020-2025, but it was written during COVID, and at the time I was still thoroughly inside the view of Polyvagal Theory. You can get the paperback through our website for the next few weeks. If you would like to buy 5 or more copies of the hardcover, which was offset printed, contact us at support@restorativepractices.com. We will give you a fair price on these, but they won’t be in perfect condition (we had to move them from a warehouse in Texas to California, there was a change in humidity, etc., and some of the pages warped.)1
We are also taking the following books out of production.
Autonomic Triage is a handbook for first responders. It is printed at 4 x 6 inches, small enough to put in your pocket. It is the simplest formulation of our work: a basic how-to guide to the ANS for people attempting to support others. We sell these as a 3-pack. This book is going to be absorbed into new books for the general population. This is printed on demand, so once we remove it, it will be very hard to find. (There is no extant inventory.)
The Role of Autonomics in the Origin and Healing of Chronic Illness. Everything you need to know is in the title. It addresses the origins of complex chronic illness in early chronic lifethreat responses, typically due to relational wounds. This was part of a collaboration with Dr. Eric Gordon, MD, Principal of Gordon Medical Associates, a medical group internationally known for their work with complex chronic illness.
Depending on response to these notices we will take these down in the next few days or the next few weeks.
If you want them, please order them now. Once they are out of production, we will not be taking special orders for them, even if you ask nicely.
At this point, I would say that there is a 50% probability that we will also remove Finding Home in Your Nervous System from production. If that happens, we will let you know. The information in that book will still be available, it may just take a new form. If you are particularly fond of the current incarnation, might be wise to get a copy now.
Here is what the pristine copies look like from the side. I have about 50 of these. They are $35 per book, plus shipping, if you order 5 or more ($49 is the retail price)
Here is what the warped copies look like from the side. I have about 300 of these. They are $15 per, plus shipping, if you order 5 or more. The warp doesn’t effect readability, but the pages are a bit wavey.
