Your help requested: this will take 5 minutes
Please read our first research paper (at least a little bit)
I almost never ask readers of this Substack to take a concrete action, but in this particular case I am making a request to our community-at-large.
As many of you know, for the past 30 years we have been working on remapping the living autonomic nervous system. In June of 2024, after several years of concerted work, we succeeded in codifying a new foundation model of autonomics.
About a week ago, we published our first research paper, a preprint white paper entitled Towards an Accurate In Vivo Reconceptualizing of Autonomic State on Research Gate.
The paper explains the long lineage of the study of autonomic physiology (it was originally called the Vegetative Nervous System and identified before 200 AD by the Roman physician Galen), the last hundred years of understanding how it works, the major updates made by Polvyagal Theory (1994), and the primary innovations of Autonomics.
A week after publication, the white paper has already achieved a research interest score higher than 40% of the research items on the entire site, and higher than 75% of all research published in 2025. There appear to be more than 25 million researchers on the site, and 160 million published pieces of research.
This white paper will pave the way for our next set of papers, which is opening the door to the validation of our work.
To get the work into the world to fulfill its potential it needs to be validated in the research literature.
The higher the interest, the easier it becomes to remove the gatekeeping mechanisms that prevent this from happening.
If you would like to see this work come more fully into the world, a very simple thing you can do to support it is to read the paper (or part of it.) As the needle on the number of reads moves up, and the research interest score increases, it becomes harder and harder to ignore.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR CONSIDERING THIS REQUEST.
IT MAKES A CONCRETE DIFFERENCE FOR THE VIABILITY OF OUR WORK.
